Laugh Lines & Coastlines: Your Guide to Comedy This Summer in Ventura County

Ventura County is having a comedy summer, and it's not subtle

June 1, 2026

Let’s be honest: we already won the geographic lottery. We’ve got the harbor, the hills, the Channel Islands on the horizon, and enough year-round sunshine to make the rest of California quietly furious. But this summer, Ventura County is adding something else to the lineup — a genuinely stacked season of stand-up comedy, and you don’t have to fight freeway traffic to get there.

Whether you’re a die-hard comedy nerd who knows every Netflix special by heart or someone who just needs a good laugh after a long week, there’s a show with your name on it somewhere between Oxnard and downtown Ventura. Here’s who’s coming, where to catch them, and why you shouldn’t sleep on any of it.

.

The Big Room: Levity Live at The Collection, Oxnard

If you haven’t been to Levity Live yet, first of all — what are you doing? Tucked inside The Collection at RiverPark, Oxnard’s own full-service comedy club regularly pulls in nationally touring headliners, pours decent cocktails, and somehow feels like a night out without requiring you to drive to Hollywood. This summer’s calendar is genuinely impressive.

Gina Brillon kicks things off on June 7th, and she’s the perfect way to open the season. A Bronx-bred Puerto Rican comedian who became the first Latina finalist in the history of America’s Got Talent, Brillon is sharp, warm, and consistently funny in a way that holds up long after the show ends. Her Amazon Prime special The Floor Is Lava won a Gracie Award. She’s the real deal.

Then, June 12–13, comes one of the most beloved names in Latino comedy: Paul Rodriguez. Born in Mexico and raised in East Los Angeles, Rodriguez has been making audiences laugh for over four decades — Comedy Central ranks him among the 100 greatest stand-ups of all time. He’s an icon who started out as a doorman at the Comedy Store and built a career that spans film, television, and stage. Watching him live is one of those experiences that reminds you why stand-up comedy exists in the first place.

Later in June, Anthony Jeselnik rolls in for a multi-night run (June 25–27), and fair warning: he is not for the faint of heart. Known for his dark humor, deadpan delivery, and an arrogant stage persona that’s entirely the bit, Jeselnik has become one of the most respected comedians working today — a “comedian’s comedian,” as they say. He’s a writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, a fixture of Comedy Central Roasts, and has multiple specials on Netflix. His Oxnard shows are already nearly sold out, so if that’s your speed, move fast.

July belongs to Tom Segura — four shows across July 7–8, all tagged “Working Out New Material.” Segura is one of the biggest names in podcasting (Your Mom’s House, Two Bears One Cave) and in stand-up full stop. A working-out-new-material set is a rare treat: the comedian is testing fresh bits in real time, which means you might be in the room when a future Netflix special is born. Those shows are nearly sold out as well, so act accordingly.

And then there’s Nurse John (July 16–19). If you’ve been on TikTok in the last few years, you know him — John Dela Cruz is a Canadian nurse who went viral overnight during the pandemic by filming comedy sketches about life in the hospital. What started as a coping mechanism turned into millions of followers and a full touring career. Catching him live before he’s selling out arenas feels like the right move.

Two-item minimum per person inside the showroom — plan accordingly, and maybe leave early enough to walk around The Collection afterward. Parking is free.

Ventura County doesn’t always make the list when people talk about Southern California’s comedy scene — that conversation usually lives in Hollywood, the Improv in Irvine, or the clubs in West LA. But that’s part of what makes this summer feel worth paying attention to. The shows coming to Oxnard alone would stack up favorably against any weekend lineup in a larger market.

So grab your people, pick a night, and laugh. The coastline will still be there when you walk out.
