From independent cafés and restaurants to nationally recognized names opening local locations, there’s plenty happening around the county. At Locals Only, we’re especially passionate about the entrepreneurs building businesses in our communities. But keeping locals informed also means sharing what’s new around town.
Here are six recent additions worth knowing about.
MAKASIH
Camarillo
MAKASIH brings Indonesian-inspired fusion cuisine to Camarillo with a creative menu that combines bold flavors and familiar favorites. Dishes include shrimp and pork lumpia, chicken curry ramen, and crispy pork sandwiches. Specialty cocktails like the Tom Kha Margarita and Yuzu Lychee Highball add another dimension to the experience. With a covered outdoor patio and a menu that offers something different, MAKASIH is a welcome addition to Camarillo’s dining scene.
Sombra Coffee Lounge
Camarillo
Sombra Coffee Lounge brings specialty coffee, matcha, and house-made syrups to Camarillo. The café grew from the creative partnership of Carlos and Aroosa Santoyo and Luis Mejia, with roots in the Flour Power pop-up. It’s a neighborhood coffee destination with a story that began long before the doors opened.
Carrara's Italian Café
Camarillo
Opened September 13, 2026, Carrara’s Italian Café is the Camarillo expansion of the Moorpark café owned by Mel and Rose. The café serves espresso, Italian pastries, paninis, cannoli, gelato, and desserts. For anyone who appreciates Italian café culture, the new location brings another place to enjoy a coffee, meet a friend, or indulge in dessert.
Dos Bocas Mexican Restaurant & Bar
Newbury Park
Dos Bocas Mexican Restaurant & Bar is a new addition to Newbury Park’s dining scene, taking over the former Habanero Mexican Grill location. The restaurant brings Mexican cuisine and cocktails to the neighborhood, giving residents another option for dining out and gathering with friends.
Texas Roadhouse
Camarillo
National restaurant chain Texas Roadhouse has opened a Camarillo location near the Camarillo Premium Outlets. Known for hand-cut steaks, ribs, and fresh-baked rolls, the restaurant brings its established menu to Ventura County. The opening adds another casual dining option for residents and visitors.
Whether it’s an independent entrepreneur opening their first storefront or a national brand arriving in the neighborhood, new businesses are part of Ventura County’s evolving landscape. At Locals Only, we’ll continue sharing what’s happening across the county while keeping the stories of independent business owners, makers, and entrepreneurs at the heart of what we do.
