The Witchy, Mystical & Metaphysical Shops You Need to Know
You don't have to believe in any of this to walk through one of these doors.
VC Locals Only
You don’t have to be a witch, a crystal collector, a tarot reader, or a practicing anything. You don’t have to subscribe to a particular spiritual tradition or have a single conversation about chakras if you don’t want to.
What you do have to be is curious. Open. Willing to step into a space that operates by a completely different set of rules than the rest of the retail world — where the inventory is alive with intention, where the person behind the counter actually knows what they’re talking about, and where the whole point is not to sell you something but to connect you with something.
Ventura County has more of these spaces than you probably know. And they are genuinely extraordinary — each one completely different from the next, each one rooted in a distinct tradition, each one run by someone who gave up a more predictable path because this one called louder.
Here’s where to go
Mockingbird Moon
Ventura
The one that welcomes everyone. Including your pets.
Owner Maegan Day has over 20 years of experience catering to local spiritual seekers, crystal collectors, and jewelry lovers of all levels — spending a decade building personal relationships with customers and vendors alike. All product lines come from individual and local artisans, small US companies, and fair trade international distributors.
The 1,500 square foot store carries crystals, gemstone and silver jewelry, sage, incense, candles, Tibetan singing bowls, handmade brooms, figures from world faiths and mythology, oils, books, tarot cards, and magical tools — plus a children’s section and several product lines by local and individual artists. The psychic reader on staff has over 45 years of experience — offering insight, guidance, mediumship, life coaching, and communications with the other side. Pet readings are also available.
Mockingbird Moon is the entry point — the shop you bring your skeptical friend to, the one that feels accessible and warm without sacrificing depth. Maegan has built something genuinely community-rooted here. The prices are fair, the staff actually knows what they’re talking about, and the vibe is welcoming to anyone at any point on their spiritual journey.
Journey Home
Ventura
If Mockingbird Moon is the entry point, Journey Home is the institution.
Journey Home started in 1986 as a small metaphysical bookstore — carrying a few crystals and jewelry pieces alongside shelves of books and music. Nearly four decades later it has grown into the largest metaphysical store in Ventura County. That kind of longevity doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because a shop becomes genuinely woven into the spiritual life of its community — generation after generation of seekers, collectors, healers, and curious first-timers walking through the same door.
At Journey Home you’ll find crystals, jewelry, incense, gifts, books, music, and all the metaphysical tools you need to assist you in your search for knowledge and enlightenment — alongside psychic readings from some of Ventura’s most experienced readers, including Rona the Witch, a tarot reader and metaphysical therapist with her own devoted following.
The store is dedicated to providing a sacred space for spiritual exploration, personal transformation, and conscious living — rooted in the vibrant energy of Ventura and inspired by soulful spirits, fostering a community of seekers, healers, and visionaries.
Regulars talk about coming back for decades — for birthday gifts, for crystal hunting, for readings that helped them through their hardest moments. “I’m glad we have this wonderful store still here after so many years,” one longtime customer wrote. That sentiment — relief that something this good is still standing, still showing up — is the highest compliment any local business can receive.
Nearly 40 years in Ventura. The largest in the county. Still here
The Healing Portal
Ventura
This one is different from everything else on this list — and it’s worth understanding why.
Kelle Evans is the daughter of a geophysicist — and her lifelong passion for crystals, gems and minerals was shaped by that scientific background. She didn’t come to crystals through mysticism but through geology, through the understanding that these are natural creations of the earth with their own frequencies and energy. She is a Master Healing Practitioner, Shaman, Teacher, Mentor, and Healing Crystal Purveyor — with 23 years of experience — offering Reiki-infused crystals and jewelry, sound baths, trainings, art events, and a genuine healing community in Ventura.
The crystal collection is one of the largest hand-selected collections in all of Southern California — every piece personally chosen and Reiki-infused before it hits the shelf. The healing sessions are deeply personal, built around each client’s specific needs, and available both in person and remotely.
“I left a successful corporate job because I knew I needed to grow and share my healing gifts. When I am on my death bed, I want to be able to look back and know I made a difference.”
Clients describe her as transformative. They talk about clearing emotional blockages they’d carried for years. They talk about feeling like they found their way home.
That is not a shop. That is a practice.
La Justa Señora Botañica
Ventura
Not every spiritual tradition speaks in crystals and tarot cards. Some speak in saints and candles and cleansing waters — in the ancient curandera tradition that has been healing communities in Latin America and the American Southwest for centuries.
La Justa Señora Botañica on East Main Street in Ventura is a traditional Latin botanica — a completely different world from the New Age crystal shop, rooted in a spiritual tradition that predates most of what we call “wellness” by several hundred years.
Señora Martha runs the shop and she is, by every account, the real thing. Customers describe her as making you feel instantly like you came to visit family. “She is a wonderful and warm woman. She has a fantastic area of supplies, from candles and cleansing waters to statues and more. Her presence felt very motherly.” She works with light and protection — readings, spiritual consultations, and a shop stocked with the tools of her tradition.
For anyone who grew up with this tradition — or anyone who wants to understand a form of spiritual practice that is genuinely woven into the fabric of Ventura County’s Latino community — this is an essential stop. Treat it with the respect it deserves.
Malone's Metaphysical & More
Camarillo
This one exists because someone got tired of driving.
Malone’s opened quietly in December of 2021 — because the founders were tired of driving out of town or ordering online and felt it was time for Camarillo to have its own metaphysical, spiritual and crystal shop. The mission from day one: a place where people could learn, gather and grow.
The shop carries over 200 types of crystals, candles, jewelry, tapestries, dream catchers, kimonos, crystal skincare products, all kinds of lamps, and hosts tarot readers and healers at monthly classes, moon meditation ceremonies, and community events throughout the year.
What makes Malone’s special is the vibe — genuinely warm, community-centered, and staffed by people who are each knowledgeable in different areas of spirituality and crystals. Regulars call it a home away from home. There’s also Miss Honey, the shop cat, who has her own devoted following and is apparently a very accurate judge of character.
The monthly moon meditation ceremonies are worth showing up for specifically — a community ritual that connects Camarillo’s spiritual seekers in a genuinely meaningful way.
The Crystal Corner
Ojai
Five consecutive years as Ojai’s Best Crystal Shop.
Ojai has long attracted artists, independent thinkers, wellness practitioners, and people drawn to the natural beauty of the valley.
The Crystal Corner is part of that distinctive local landscape.
Recognized as Best Crystal Shop in Ojai for five consecutive years, the business has established a lasting connection with the community and visitors who seek out Ojai’s independent shops.
In March 2025, Taylor Spoerlein purchased The Crystal Corner, beginning a new chapter in the shop’s story.
Taking ownership of an established local business comes with both an opportunity and a responsibility: honoring what customers have come to love while bringing fresh ideas and a personal vision to its future.
The Crystal Corner also features a front patio, adding to its presence in Ojai’s charming shopping district.
What makes this particular story interesting isn’t simply the crystals or the awards. It’s the evolution of an independent business and the person now guiding its next chapter.
We’re looking forward to learning more about Taylor, what inspired her to purchase The Crystal Corner, and her vision for the shop’s future.
For now, five consecutive years of recognition is reason enough to put this Ojai business on your list of places to discover.
There is a reason that metaphysical shops are thriving right now — not just in Ventura County but across the country. People are hungry for spaces that operate outside the transactional logic of the modern world. Places that slow time down. Places where the person helping you actually cares about why you came in.
Whether you believe that crystals hold energy or not. Whether you’ve had a tarot reading that changed your life or think the whole thing is nonsense. Whether you light candles for saints or meditate with singing bowls or simply want to buy something beautiful that came from the earth — these shops exist for you.
They are community spaces. Healing spaces. Counterculture spaces in the truest sense — offering an alternative to the way we usually move through the world.
Walk in with an open mind. See what finds you.
