Ventura has a new neighborhood bakery and kitchen. Mangia Bella, a boutique catering company and storefront bakery, has set up shop with a simple guiding idea: the best meals are made intentionally, with care.

The business is rooted in family and Italian tradition, and that shows in founder Julia Locke’s approach — a handcrafted touch applied to everything from the bread to the overall dining experience. It’s less about trends and more about doing the fundamentals well.
On the menu: freshly baked breads made in-house, handcrafted sandwiches, and a rotating selection of grab-and-go meals built around quality ingredients. The bakery side gives it a walk-in, everyday feel, while the catering arm extends that same attention to detail to private events and larger gatherings around the county.
For Locke, opening a storefront was the culmination of a longer process — one that included finding the right commercial space to grow into. That search led to a partnership with local commercial real estate contact Steven Canchola, credited with helping shape this next chapter of the business.
Mangia Bella now joins Ventura’s growing list of independent food businesses putting a local, handmade stamp on everyday meals — proof that a loaf of bread or a sandwich made with care can carry as much weight as a night out.
